The Tampa Bay Lightning (45-26-6) defeated the New York Rangers (36-34-7) 5-1 on Monday night at Madison Square Garden in New York. With the win, the Lightning are now within two points of the Toronto Maple Leafs for first place in the Atlantic Division.
Brayden Point scored twice and had an assist to lead the way - he now has 41 goals on the season. He has also tied Steven Stamkos for the Lightning record by having 40-goal seasons in three straight campaigns. Andrei Vasilevskiy went 38-of-39 in net to earn the win.
The Lightning now return home for the next four games beginning against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday night. Puck drop from Amalie Arena between the Lightning and Leafs is scheduled for 7:00 PM on Wednesday.
