Open enrollment is coming to an end for a long-standing program in our state that allows parents to lock in today's tuition rates for their kids' future college education.

"So these have the lowest plan price in over ten years and this deal is good through the end of the month. So I really recommend for families if you've been thinking about it for a while, please do go online it's significant savings on the prepaid plans."

Florida Prepaid Spokeswoman Meredith Westheimer says this year's plans start at $29 a month for a newborn, which is actually six bucks less than last year.

She calls it the longest running and most successful college savings program in the country.

Meredith is a Palm Beach County resident whose parents bought a Florida Prepaid plan for her and she graduated from UCF debt-free. She and her husband have now purchased plans for their kids.

Florida Prepaid is transferrable to private colleges and out-of-state universities and it's refundable up to ten years after your child graduates high school.

You can use the savings calculator to find out the best plan for your children at MyFloridaPrepaid.com.

April 30th is the deadline for open enrollment this year.
