The Washington Capitals (3-1-0) defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning (1-2-1) 3-2 in overtime on Tuesday night in Washington, DC.
The Lightning got a goal from Jake Guentzel in the first period and a power play goal in the second period to build a 2-1 lead. Tom Wilson scored a power play goal at the 4:56 mark of the third period to tie the game 2-2, which would be the score heading into overtime. In OT Jakob Chychrun scored at the 1:19 mark to lift Washington to the win.
The Lightning are next in action when they go to Detroit to play the Red Wings on Friday night. Puck drop on Friday night is scheduled for 7:00 PM in Detroit.
