The Tampa Bay Lightning (11-7-2) defeated the Edmonton Oilers (9-9-5) 2-1 in overtime on Thursday night at Benchmark International Arena in Tampa.
Trailing 1-0 in the third period, Nick Paul scored at the 17:28 mark of the third period to tie the game. For Paul, it was his season debut as he worked his way back from preseason wrist surgery. Then tied 1-1 in overtime, it was Jake Guentzel scoring to lift the Lightning to two points and a win.
The Lightning are next in action when they go to Washington to play the Capitals on Saturday night. Puck drop from Washington, DC is scheduled for 7:00 PM on Saturday night.
