Lightning Defeat Rangers For Seventh Straight Win

The Tampa Bay Lightning (16-7-2) defeated the New York Rangers (13-12-2) 4-1 on Saturday afternoon at Madison Square Garden. With the win, the Lightning have won each of their last seven games.

Brandon Hagel scored twice and has now scored in each of his last five games. He scored midway through the first and second to give the Lightning a 2-0 lead. The Rangers got on the board late in the third period when JT Miller scored to make it a 2-1 game, which would be the score going into the final frame.

In the third Nick Paul scored early in the frame to give Tampa Bay some insurance - Jake Guentzel added an empty netter to make it a 4-1 final score. Playing in the second game of a back-to-back, Jonas Johansson faced only 13 shots and made 12 saves to pick up the victory.

The Lightning remain in the New York City area and will play the Islanders in the final game of a three-game road trip on Tuesday night. Puck drop between the Lightning and Islanders is scheduled for 7:00 PM on Tuesday night at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York.
